Viniyoga: Beginners

This class is taught by:

Asa Angel

Yoga has been a part of Asa's life for nearly 15 years, first as a method of calming down a very anxious mind and then evolving into a deep spiritual practice. She is continuously inspired by the entire system of yoga and its' ability to find the truth in each one of us.

Asa completed her 200-hour training in the jungles of New York City at Loom Yoga Center. She teaches vinyasa-flow inspired classes with a strong emphasis on meditation and alignment. She also holds an Advanced Degree in the Reiki System of Healing as well as meditation training in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition which help to inform and deepen her practice.

She is dedicated to helping others find their sense of self and facilitate a path toward growth and healing.

Katie Lieberman

Katie expresses the heart of yoga this way, "The essence of yoga is clear vision - from the first moment we step on the mat our notion of who we are and what we want begins to change. The pleasantries of flexibility and relaxation are only a taste of what's to come. We find ourselves on a path that dissolves the ideals of life and reveals the spectacular reality of the present moment."

Katie has been teaching yoga in the Viniyoga approach for over 16 years. She is a licensed esthetician with advanced certification in aromatherapy.

Kate Guilbault

"Yoga practice transforms grief to grace, a process of shedding your suffering and stress to live with deeper joy. Yoga is the linking of breath, movement, and mind to elevate your experience of daily living."

Kate Guilbault's personal transformation through yoga began in 2005, when she walked into her first Viniyoga class at Breathing Time Yoga. Since then she has completed a 200 hour Viniyoga program at Breathing Time, and is working to finish the American Viniyoga Institute's rigorous 500 hour program.

Kate teaches a full range of Viniyoga classes and workshops. In addition she sees students one-on-one for personal yoga lessons. She is a trained birth doula.

Divya Epstein-Lubow

Divya says, "The essence of yoga is a joyful expansion of our best selves through the vehicle of the physical body. It is a given that we all face challenges. Yoga helps us meet the challenges by practicing being n this moment with wisdom and compassion."

Divya's joy of being in the body and her honesty permeate her teaching.

She has been teaching yoga since 1988. Her initial training was in Kripalu Yoga. In recent years, her main inspirations have been Sara Powers' Insight Yoga, Vipassanna meditation, Anusaura yoga, and Iyengar yoga.

Diyva Epstein-Lubow holds a Masters Degree in Dance Education from New York University.
The Viniyoga method of yoga is based on the deep relationship between breath and movement, experiencing yoga from the inside out and providing a sound approach to practicing yoga postures (asana). The deep slow rhythmic breath that you will master naturally creates a calm and focused mind and reduces stress on a physiologic level. The Viniyoga teacher incorporates safe and effective sequencing, and adaptation of poses to suit individual needs. Viniyoga classes may at times include seated breath awareness (pranayama), meditation and other yogic techniques.

Everyone has to start yoga somewhere. Beginners yoga is designed to take the stress out of yoga by laying the foundation for a strong and confident yoga practice. Welcome to yoga!  Beginners yoga is rich with instruction and demonstration, is deliberately paced and will help you learn the basics. This class welcomes all students who are relatively new to yoga practice or simply wish to focus on the basics.
